Help a Refugee Learn English
Help a refugee with their English! Attend our group events and participate in English class with a refugee. Then practice with them via a weekly phone conversation. By giving them the opportunity to speak with a fluent English speaker, you will help them learn English–a critical component of their adjustment to life in the United States.

Expectations
- Attend our monthly group events
- Support refugee friends through their English class at the events
- Practice English weekly over the phone with your refugee
- Fill out a 5-minute monthly report
- Touch base with Of One Heart representative, as needed
Registration
Step 1 - Application & Waiver
Step 2 - AZ Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Level 1
- Non-IVP
- Must meet statute ARS: 46-141 (such as DES – Certified Child Care Provider and Non-Certified Relative Provider)
Some fingerprint locations will take your fingerprints digitally and SUBMIT them digitally. This may expedite the arrival of your fingerprint card.
Once you have received your card, please email a copy to Connect@OfOneHeart.org.
Step 3 - Refugee Journey Presentation
Attend a presentation, virtual or in-person, to learn about refugees and the journey they take to get to our communities.
Interview
When you have completed steps 1-3, please email us with dates/times you are available so we can schedule an interview.
